Greater Nottingham Strategic Plan Examination

The Forum has received notification (as may any of you who submitted comments during the Regulation 19 consultation) that the Examination of the Greater Nottingham Strategic Plan (GNSP) will commence on 14th July. Hearings will initially be held at the Council Offices on Foster Avenue in Beeston, and later at County Hall in West Bridgford – see the Hearing Programme.

Full details about the Examination Hearings are available on the Examination Website which will be updated throughout the process.

“Respondents have three options available to them in relation to the Examination:-

1. If you are content to rely on your original comments, do not intend to provide any further written comments or participate in the hearing discussions, there is no need for you to do anything further.

2. If objections were raised within your consultation response are relevant to Matters, Issues and Questions, you are welcome to submit further comments in response to the questions the Inspectors have identified. The deadline for submission of Written Statements is 5pm on 26th June 2026.

3. If the Matters identified are relevant to your consultation response and you wish to participate in the Hearing Sessions, you will need to inform the Programme Officer by 5pm on 19th June 2026 with an indication of the Matter(s) and Issue(s) you wish to participate in. Representors requesting to participate during the hearing session are also welcome to supply Written Statements should they wish to do so, in accordance with the guidance and deadline.”

The Inspectors have identified Matters, Issues and Questions (MIQ) for the Examination, and we understand that these are the only items for discussion at the Hearing sessions.

If you didn’t submit any representations during the consultation, then it is unlikely that you will be able to do so now! However, we would be interested to hear from you if you have any concerns via the usual means below.

The Forum will be considering the MIQs and responding in due course.

Barracks Activity

Some of you have contacted us to ask about recent activity at Chetwynd Barracks concerning the removal of some trees (black poplar we believe) and the erection of a fence near the HMS Sherwood & TA Centre on Swiney Way. We asked the DIO for more information and this is their reply:-

“The area to the right of the RFCA (Reserve Forces & Cadets Association) is an extension of land that will be used for the RFCA as a car park and area for the cadets to conduct training. The wooden fencing that is currently erected marks the site boundary of the extended land. There will be future security fencing erected internally of that wooden fencing to provide site security as expected on all new MoD sites. Unfortunately, some trees have been removed due to the line of security fencing; sustainability is key within the MoD, therefore mitigations will be put in place, primarily along the site’s south aspect.”

A planning application 26/00325/DEM has been submitted to Broxtowe for Prior approval for demolition of Building 47CC and 48ACC” also adjacent to the TA centre as part of the same extension. If you wish to comment on this application, then you can do so on the planning portal via the link by 12th June.

As always please do feel free to ask any questions you may have on this week’s latest bulletin or anything else via the Contact Us page or by email to assist.cttcnf@gmail.com, and we’ll do our best to answer them via the Questions and Answers page.
