There are roadworks going to take place at the Nottingham Road junction to Chilwell Retail Park from 6th January 2025 to 2nd March 2025. It looks as though Swiney Way will be closed between Ranson Road and Nottingham Road.
There will be diversions.
On the 24th December 2024 the UK Government published an Industry Consultation on restoring the 2030 phase out date for new purely petrol or diesel cars.
Whilst this is an industry consultation, the need to provide EV charging has an an impact upon new and existing housing and included in the consultation is Government guidance to Local Authorities on “safe and effective cross pavement charging solutions” which makes an interesting read.
The impact upon the National and Local Electricity Networks still doesn’t feel to be resolved

The UK Government has just published its “English Devolution White Paper” which could have a significant impact on Local Government in our area.

Whilst the power station is outside our area, uncertainty will continue to cause problems.
The East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) i.e. the new Mayoral Authority for Derby, Nottingham, Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire has issued a Press Release about the East Midlands Development Company (EMDevCo).
In summary, EMDevCo has been wound up with its projects passing to the EMCCA. This comes as no great surprise, as with the formation of the new Mayoral Authority in May this year there was no room for two bodies acting strategically for the region. How the original EMDevCo projects proceed, including for Toton & Chetwynd of course, remains to be seen. We hope to find out more in the coming weeks.
