Some of you may have seen this work on the land west of Stapleford Lane. We asked Pegasus what was happening and they told us:
“Archaeological Trial Trenching is being undertaken.
“It is a requirement from Nottinghamshire County Council, NCC had previously sought for this to be undertaken either before the development had received planning permission or in the form of a condition post permission. Given the delay in the appeal, there was a window of opportunity between the harvesting and planting of crops on this field, the work is being done now to avoid a potential condition post the grant of any potential planning permission.
“Once the digging is completed, finds will be reported to NCC and trenches will be refilled with the material removed. It has been a fast turnaround with the finding of a gap to undertake this work, to fit with the farmer, and then to agree the necessary scopes with NCC. We only had confirmation at the beginning of the week that the digging was going to start.
“I’m not aware of anything further being undertaken or planned at this time. Will ensure that you are given a “heads up” where necessary.
